Design and Development of Flexible PDMS Antenna for UWB-WBAN Applications

This paper presents the design and development of a flexible Ultra Wide Band (UWB) antenna using polydimethylsiloxane as a substrate. Copper foil having a thickness of 0.193 mm is used as conducting layers. The overall thickness of the antenna is 1.886 mm. The proposed UWB antenna covering from 1.5 to > 15 GHz. It has been analyzed at a few specific frequencies 1.8 GHz, 2.4 GHz, 3.6 GHz, 4.2 GHz, 4.8 GHz, 5.2 GHz, and 5.8 GHz for comparison. SAR is evaluated at these mentioned frequencies and it is below the recommended SAR value of 1.6 W/Kg. The performance of the antenna with comparative analysis is presented with the help of reflection coefficient, VSWR, Impedance, Gain, surface current distribution, far-field radiation pattern, and SAR analysis.
