Tunable and highly brilliant laser sources at 1120 nm

2013
High-brilliance diode lasers at 1120 nm with a high optical output power, nearly diffraction limited beam and narrow spectral line width are essential for non-linear frequency conversion to reach a yellow-green wavelength near 560 nm. Laser systems near 560 nm are key enablers for many applications, e.g. photocoagulation in ophthalmology, medical skin treatments, DNA sequencing, time resolved fluorescence spectroscopy, confocal microscopy, or high-resolution refractometry. Current laser systems cannot be directly modulated and suffer from a low efficiency, limiting their applicability. Here diode lasers are highly desired, since they feature not only these properties, but also allow a certain wavelength tunability, which might open further application fields.
