Surgical Treatment of the Anterior Instability of the Shoulder by Suture of Rotator Interval

1988
Three types of anterior instability of the shoulder were identified by Protzman in 1980. Type I, subluxation without prior dislocation; Type II, recurrent dislocation with interval subluxation; and Type III, recurrent dislocation without interval subluxation. We have treated surgically 9 cases of anterior instability of the shoulder except for Type III. The surgical procedure used in all shoulders was suture of the supraspinatus tendon to the subscapular is tendon at the rotator interval. We reported the results of this operation after follow-up periods ranging from 7 to 28 months.
