Preparation of Odd-Sized Coverslips

2006
AbstractHistotechnologists can prepare large coverslips to accommodate the needs of large microtomy specimens by using a diamond-point glass marker and oversized piece of #2 thickness glass. This can be accomplished as long as the coverslips are cut with a steady hand and on a hard surface. Coverslips should be discarded when and if splinters occur at the edies of the cut coverslip. Cutting your own glass for large samples is quick and economical. A custom-cut coverglass assures full tissue coverage, thus avoiding bubbles.
