A EVOLUÇÃO DA INDÚSTRIA DE TRANSFORMAÇÃO DA PARAÍBA NA DÉCADA DE 2000

The article illustrates the behavior of the manufacturing industry of Paraiba, focusing especially in the first decade of the 21st century. To this end, it contains a brief theoretical and historical contextualization, which allows the reader to make the conclusion that the industrialization of Paraiba was late and subordinate. The paper makes a presentation of secondary data about the value added, which leads to the conclusion that the manufacturing industry is key to job creation in the State. In addition, the data also allow assert that companies that have emerged in Paraiba throughout the decade are more labor intensive than traditional companies are. Finally, these companies are very important for the generation of employment and income for the families and the development of the State.
