Social and economic nature of intellectual capital is presented in the article. The author determined the peculiarities of its formation and realization under conditions of development of the intangible economy. The institutional aspects of intellectual capital formation are analyzed. The causes of an insufficient level of capitalization of intellectual capital of Ukraine are determined.
