Studies on main ear characteristics of glutinous maize hybrids.

To determine the correlation between yield and the main ear characteristics of glutinous maize hybrids,a Randomized Complete Block Design was used to test twenty hybrids.The results shows that the most contribution to the fresh-eatable spike yield was from shelling percentage,ear length and 100-grain weight,and further path analysis showed an order about the important contribution of ear characteristics to the fresh-eatable spike yield from large to small:kernels in ear row100-grain weightear rowsear diametershelling percentage.While ear diameter,kernels length and 100-grain weight are the main contribution to the dry yield,and path analysis showed that the important contribution of ear characteristics to dry yield from large to small:100-grain weightear diameterear rows kernels in ear rowshelling percentagebald head lengthkernels length.
