Objective In response to the major public health events of the COVID-19, to prevent and control of epidemic situation, to establish the strategies for the diagnosis and treatment of specialized diseases in hand microsurgery in medium and low risk areas Methods From January 23 to March 18, 2020, in the department of hand and microsurgery, 5 training sessions on epidemic prevention knowledge, and 2 exercises of treating emergency combined with suspected COVID-19 infection were conducted A total of 921 outpatients and emergency patients, and 75 inpatients were ad- mitted And 317 surgeries were performed, and replantation of fingers in 2 cases according to the suspected COVID-19 protocol were carried out Results During the response to a major public health incident of Grade Ⅰ of Guangdong Province, 107 outpatients, 126 emergency patients and 24 inpatients were treated, and 80 surgeries were performed From the response to the major public health incident of Grade Ⅱ on February 24 to March 18, 497 outpatients, 191 emergency patients, and 51 inpatients were treated, and 237 surgeries were completed Two cases of replanting of severed fingers were successfully performed under three-level protection in accordance with the management of patients suspected of being infected with COVID-19 All patients had good prognosis, and prevention and treatment measures were effective Conclusion In response to major public health events of COVID-19 in medium and low risk areas, after full training and exercise, strict compliance with prevention and control measures, we can effectively and safely complete the diagnosis and treatment of hand microsurgery
