Observation on the efficacy of binocular vision training for stereopsis establishment on concomitant strabismus children after surgery

2018
Objective To evaluate the clinical efficacy of binocular vision training for stereopsis establishment on concomitant strabismus children after surgery. Methods The clinical data of 76 children who underwent common strabismus surgery from Jan. 2016 to Jan. 2018 were analyzed retrospectively. They were divided into two groups randomly. The control group were given routine care and the observation group were given binocular vision training. The binocular vision function of the two groups were examined and analyzed after surgery. Results The proportion of simultaneous visual, visual fusion and stereopsis in two groups at 6 months after surgery were significantly higher than those before surgery (P<0.05). The proportion of simultaneous visual, visual fusion and stereoscopic vision of observation group were significantly higher than those of the control group at 3 months after surgery (P<0.05). The stereoscopic sharpness of the two groups 3 and 6 months after surgery was significantly higher than that before surgery, and the stereoscopic sharpness of 6 months after surgery was significantly higher than that of 3 months after surgery (P<0.001). The stereoscopic sharpness at 3 and 6 months after surgery of observation group were significantly higher than those of the control group (P<0.001). Conclusion Binocular vision training is helpful on stereopsis establishment in concomitant strabismus children after surgery.
