The characteristics and the influence on people's livelihood of the natural calamity of northern Shaanxi in Ming Dynasty were analyzed,based on the influence of climatic change and special geographical structure.Though the government of Ming Dynasty and local government had adopted various methods on relief,people's livelihood was still seriously perplexed by the famines with the declination of national power and unofficial self-preservation ability,as well as various malpractices by some officials,which were the roots of a serious of social problems,so that led to the peasant uprising.
