The Time-effect Relationship of Anti-diabetic Effects of Zhi Tang Shu

Objective To investigate the time effect relationship of Zhi Tang Shu (ZTS)′s anti diabetic effects.Methods The diabetic model was establisked by using streptozotocin (i.p) in rats,and treated with glibenclamide, phenformin and ZTS respectively once a day for 4 weeks.The contents of glucose and tri acylglycerol (TG) in plasma were periodically measured.Results ZTS,glibenclamide and phenformin all could obviously reduce the contents of glucose and TG in plasma.And these contents were negetively related with treatment times of these medicines(P0.001).It showed that ZTS could early come into effect.At the end of 4th week, the antihyperglycemia and antihyperlipidemia effects of ZTS were similar to that of glibenclamide or phenformin(P0.05).Conclusion ZTS has remarkable antidiabetic effects.
