The effect of nitrogen on the stacking fault energy in Fe-15Mn-2Cr-0.6C-xN twinning-induced plasticity steels

2014
The effect of nitrogen on the stacking fault energy (SFE) was quantitatively evaluated in Fe–15Mn–2Cr–0.6C– x N (wt.%) twinning-induced plasticity steels using X-ray and neutron diffraction and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The SFE value linearly increased up to 0.21% N, except for the value of the 0.21% N steel measured by TEM. The reason why the TEM gave a low SFE value for the 0.21% N steel was primarily due to the difficulty in accurate measurement of the dislocation node radius.
