Clinical analysis on cranioplasty for severe brain injury

2011
Objective To investigate the clinical features of severe brain injury and cranioplasty. Methods Totally 60 patients with severe brain damage from 2006 to February 2010 were enrolled and divided into repair group and non-repair group.Their clinical data were retrospectively analyzed. Results The life quality and psychological condition were better in repair group than those in non-repair group,P0.05.Conclusion The ventilation quality should be improved as soon as possible and the intracranial hematoma as well as the large bone flaps should be cleared to achieve better decompression for patients with severe brain injury.Meanwhile parallel hypothermia treatment should be applied to maintain homeostasis, prevent complications and improve the prognosis.Timely repair of skull for patients with severe brain injury can eliminate their fear and improve their life quality.
