Torque Ripple Minimization of PMSM Drive using DTFC-SVM based Control Strategy for Five-Level Cascaded Symmetrical H-Bridge Inverter

2020
This paper presents, direct torque and flux control with space vector modulation (DTFC-SVM) based control strategy for PMSM drive with reduced torque ripple operation. DTFC- SVM is an agile control strategy in motor drive applications, it has the ability to produce a greater number of voltage vectors compared to Direct Torque Control (DTC). Multilevel concept is an added advantage in motor control applications, helps to reduce the current THD with increased levels. Three Level NPC has a neutral point voltage balancing issue, which can be eliminated in five level structure and more number of switching states allows reduced THD and further helps for torque ripple minimization. Five-level SVM implementation simplified by using a two-level SVM structure. DTFC-SVM based control strategy discussed for both three level NPC and five level cascaded H-bridge Inverters. Compared Steady state torque and current ripples with improved machine dynamics under different operating conditions in MATLAB/SIMULINK software environment.
