Diabetes increases the susceptibility to acute kidney injury after myocardial infarction through augmented activation of renal toll-like receptors in rats.

2017
This is the first report to demonstrate the involvement of Toll-like recpetors (TLRs) in diabetes-induced susceptibility to acute kidney injury after acute myocardial infarction. We propose that the TLR1/TLR2 heterodimer may be a new therapeutic target for the prevention of acute kidney injury in diabetic patients.
