Culture: Whence, Whither and Why?

What light can that branch of social theory known as cultural theory throw on the future of cultural minorities in the multicultural state? One would expect that a crucial contribution would be to our understanding of the nature, origins and development of culture in general, and the culture of minority groups in particular.
