Hipertension arterial en adulto mayor

2018
Blood pressure is a measure of the force exerted against the walls of the arteries as the heart pumps blood to your body. Hypertension is the term used to describe high blood pressure. The mechanism of the most frequent hypertension, called "essential hypertension", "primary" or "idiopathic" is unknown. In essential hypertension, the specific causes have not yet been described, although it has been related to a series of factors that are usually present in the majority of people who suffer from it. There is no clinically significant difference between the blood pressure levels of boys and girls. After puberty, males present higher values. In menopause, women tend to have higher blood pressure levels than men of the same age. The possible causes of hypertension influence the hyperactivity of the sympathetic nervous system, excessive stimulation of the renin-angiotensin system and low potassium diet
