Summary of 1981 high‐current dynamics workshop

A workshop was held at the Chalk River Nuclear Laboratories October 28–30, 1981 to exchange information on beam dynamics problems of high current cw proton linacs, and to discuss new directions that might be followed. A general discussion of beam loss mechanisms and instabilities was followed by detailed discussions of particle beam dynamics codes and how these mechanisms are incorporated. Particular attention was given to current calculation capabilities and ways in which they could be improved. This paper gives a brief description of the topics that were discussed and lists the conclusions and suggestions for future work that were agreed upon in the summary sessions.
