Ewing sarcoma masquerading as gluteal lymphangioma in an infant: A case report
2018
Abstract Extraskeletal Ewing sarcoma, also known as "peripheral primitive neuroectodermal tumor" (pPNET) belongs to a group of highly malignant tumors and is composed of small round cells of neuroectodermal origin. Its incidence is only about 4% of all soft tissue tumors. An infant with a gluteal swelling presenting like a lymphangioma is being described. Finally, on histopathology and immuno-histochemical analysis diagnosis of Ewing sarcoma was confirmed. Patient underwent surgical excision followed by chemotherapy. Extraskeletal Ewing sarcoma masquerading as lymphangioma has not been reported. It is a highly aggressive tumor and is rare in infants.
