One-year Retention of Gadolinium in the Brain: Comparison of Gadodiamide and Gadoterate Meglumine in a Rodent Model
2018
Unlike repeated administrations of gadoterate meglumine, repeated administrations of gadodiamide were associated with persistent signal hyperintensity in the deep cerebellar nuclei on T1-weighted sequences and long-term retention of chemically non-inert gadolinium, demonstrating that the level and chemical forms of gadolinium deposition depend on the structure of the gadolinium-based contrast agent.
