Study of the transient performance of Electronic Current Transformer based on printed circuit board rogowski coil

2010
The transient performance of Electronic Current Transformer (ECT) has a strong impact on the transient protection applications and fault transient recording in smart grid. This paper investigates in detail the transient performance of TECT-10 by theoretical modeling, simulation and experiment. Study shows that the maximum lower cut-off frequency of TECT-10 is a critical factor affecting its transient performance. The low-frequency transient response optimization model of TECT-10 is set up. And by the model simulation, the relationship between the transient performance and the maximum lower cut-off frequency is found out. The transient performance experiment of TECT-10 proves that TECT-10, with maximum lower cut-off frequency of 0.1Hz, may reach an accuracy class TPE whereby to achieve correct reproduction of the transient fault current waveform with a decay time constant of 125ms.
