Analysis on Leakage Defects of Silicon Brass Castings

The silicon brass was used to fabricate the covers of cooler in order to satisfy the requirements of resistant sea water corrosion,high heat conductivity and enduring water pressure. But the ratio of the reject castings was up to 60% in some enterprise productions. The main problems of these reject castings were the leakage in the press were test. The reason of the leakage defects of the covers was analyzed. The results show that higher silicon addition and pouring temperature as well as worse silicon's melting cause the leakage of castings.The ratio of finished products exceed 90% by taking relevant steps.
