UV-active waxes for wood coating systems

2002
Waxes are common, frequently-used additives in many coating systems. Their use leads to a number of significant improvements with regard to matting, scratch resistance, blocking and much more. Up to now, all known waxes behaved chemically inertly in UV-coatings. It has now become possible to develop a wax which attaches itself to the coating film due to a UV-active double bond. The UV-active waxes based on montan wax display an extraordinary good effect with light-curable coating systems.
