Negative dielectrophoresis prevents surfaces from blocking

A sampling probe for sterile process applications, e.g. for bioreactors, has been developed. The innovation is an arrangement of microelectrodes on a silicon chip to generate an electrical AC field. In the bioreactor microorganisms or cells are polarized and repelled from the surface by means of the AC field.
