solar concentrator comprising a heliostat and a fresnel lens
2011
Problem: solar concentrators that use heliostats require two mirror rotation axis to follow the sun, which involves the use of a large number of engines and complex machinery, so high costs. Solution: A heliostat comprises a plane mirror (1) and a first axis of rotation (4) which is positioned parallel to the axis of rotation of the Earth. The reflected solar radiation (8) with the mirror (1) is permanently directed towards a fixed Fresnel lens (9) which is perpendicular to the first axis of rotation (4) and concentrated solar radiation (8) on a fixed target (10). A solar field is composed of a plurality of heliostats according to these features and of which all the first axes of rotation (4) are rotated by a mechanical connection (6) coupled to a rod which is moved by a single engine. This reduces the overall cost of the installation.
