Background Complete macroscopic resection surgery, pleurectomy and decortication (PD) improve survival in selected patients with malignant pleural mesothelioma (MPM). Yet its value has been questioned because of concern that this extensive surgical procedure may disrupt health-related quality of life (HRQoL).
