An Evaluation of the Capability of ANSYS CFX 12.1 to Model Air Flow Over a Supersonic Ramp
2010
Air flow at 2.85 times the speed of sound over a 20 degree compression ramp was attempted to be modelled using two turbulence models commonly used in industry – the RNG k-e and SST k-ω models – in the commercial computational fluid dynamics software ANSYS CFX. A list of the theoretically correct settings for the simulations is provided along with a discussion of significant simulation problems encountered and some very preliminary results.
