Differential effect of triphenyltin chloride and its cyclohexyl derivatives on growth and development oftribolium confusum

1982
The order of toxicity of triphenyltin chloride > trans-2-hydroxycyclohexyl-triphenyltin > cyclohexyltriphenyltin was established, when these compounds were assayed againstTribolium confusum. Larval growth retardation, probably due to an antifeedant effect, was observed with all three compounds. The higher activity oftrans-2-hydroxycyclohexyltriphenyltin compared with that of cyclohexyltriphenyltin may be due to a metabolic deoxystannylation reaction, which produces a triphenyltin derivative and cyclohexene.
