Swastika Hole shaped Phononic Crystal for Quality enhancement of Contour Mode Resonators

2021
This study introduces a novel swastika hole shaped phononic crystal (SH-PnC) with wide acoustic band gap which can effectively hinder the propagation of acoustic energy through it. A delay line is used to check the transmission property of the proposed SH-PnC which shows a magnificent capability with more than 250 dB drop compared to a Si-bar based delay line. The FEM simulation results revealed that its employment on anchoring boundaries improved the Q-anchor $(Q_{anc})$ and Q-unloaded $(Q_{u})$ from 9295 and 7660 to 15450 and 11223 respectively. Furthermore, the insertion loss (IL) and motional resistance $(R_{m})$ are improved from −11.4 dB and 123 Ω to −6 dB and 40 Ω respectively.
