Absorption and Stripping of CO2 with a Molten Salt Slurry in a Bubble Column at High Temperature

2006
A novel slurry bubble column in which a lithium silicate as a CO 2 absorbent is suspended in a molten salt at high temperature was proposed. To confirm the feasibility of the proposed system, the effects of the CO 2 feed rate into the slurry bubble column, the quantity of absorbent, and the suspension concentration on the performance of the CO 2 recovery were investigated. The proposed system could rapidly absorb and strip CO 2 by thermal swinging. Moreover, no reduction of the CO 2 recovery performance by the repeated use of the absorbent was observed.
