Effect observation of titanium silicate for elderly patients with advanced and recurrent gastric cancer

Objective To observe the short-term efficacy and toxicity of titanium silicate(S-1) in the treatment of elderly patients with advanced and recurrent gastric cancer.Methods Fifty-six elderly patients with advanced and recurrent gastric cancer were given S-1 80 mg/(m2 · d)orally,2 times/d for 14 days,then drug with drawal for 7 days,3 weeks for a cycle.Then the efficacy and toxicity after 2 cycles of treatment was evaluated.Results Fifty-six patients can be evaluated the efficacy.CR in 2 cases and PR in 19 cases,the overall response rate was 37.5％ ; SD in 19 cases and PD in 16 cases,the disease control rate was 60.6％.The quality of life improved in 23 patients(41.1％),stabled in 27 patients(48.2％).The main adverse reactions were leukopenia,aglobulism,nausea and vomiting,diarrhea,skin pigmentation and rash.Conclusions S-1 in the treatment of elderly patients with advanced and recurrent gastric cancer has good effect,and the adverse reactions can be tolerated,so is worthy of promotion.
