The invention relates to an antidepressant pharmaceutical composition containing a therapeutically effective amount of an active ingredient, in admixture with a carrier or diluent for the active ingredient, acceptable from a pharmaceutical point of view, where the active ingredient is i) extractant Polygala with a polar solvent, the polar solvent being water or a mixture of water and methanol or ethanol; ii) an aqueous fraction resulting from the extraction, using an organic solvent, the extractant by the polar solvent; iii) an organic eluate obtained by introducing the extractant by the polar solvent or the aqueous fraction in a reversed phase chromatography column and eluting the column with water and an organic solvent; or iv) a filtrate having a molecular weight less than 30,000 Daltons in the organic eluate, and a process for its preparation.Elle also relates to a process for preparing this composition.
