Effect of several natural diets on reproduction of a marine ornamental shrimp Lysmata amboinensis.

2010
This study has analysed the effect of six natural diets on gonadal development, reproductive performance and, quality of zygote of a marine ornamental shrimp Lysmata amboinensis. The results of gonadal development show that there is a significant difference in development cycle of gonad with six diets(P 0.01),shortest in treatment of Artemia nauplius[(11.46±1.76)d] and longest in prown meat[(12.82± 1.91)d];GSI,dry matter and protein content from broodstocks fed Artemia nauplius and copepods increased significantly along with gonad development(P 0.01),all increased by twice approximate. The results of reproductive performance and quality of zygote show that relative fecundity in treatment of Spanish mackerel(3 357±621) eggs/g is most, and least in Artemia nauplius(1 829±213) egg/s;volume is maximal in treatment of Artemia nauplius[(0.110 9±0.016 3) mm 3] and minimum in sepia[(0.096 2±0.014 0) mm 3];dry weight in treatment of Spanish mackerel[(37.33±1.75) μg]is maximal, and minimum in prown meat[(31.00 ±1.26) μg];protein content(367.168 9 mg/g) and percentage composition in dry matter of zygote(72.34%) in treatment of copepods is maximal.Furthermore, there are no significant differences in incubating rate and incubating interval with six diets.
