Holographic interpretation of binaural hearing

Hearing sound means, from the viewpoint of holography, that sound images are reconstructed based upon the signals received by the ear. The reconstructed sound source is an imaginary image, because no sound source exists there when it is reproduced. Such a phenomenon is often seen in a firecracker festival. A description is made hereby comparing a reconstruction method of the usual complex‐amplitude‐type acoustical holography by a one‐dimensional receiving array, and its variation to an additional‐squared type of the two point receivers’ output. With the additional‐squared‐type processing of the two point receivers (which means binaural hearing), observation was conducted in accordance with a holographic method. Provided that human hearing ability is being stimulated with both ears, it is imaged that the sound images are reconstructed by cross‐replacing equivalently the right and left received signals to the right and left positions.
