Abstract 18557: Helicopter-borne ECPR Team for Remote Refractory Cardiac Arrest

2017
Introduction: Extracorporeal Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (ECPR) is a second line treatment in the management of cardiac arrest (CA). Prognosis is linked to the access time to this technique; 100 min seems to be the maximum acceptable time from collapse to implementation. In our region, part of the population is therefore systematically not eligible to this treatment. In order to increase accessibility for patients far from ECPR centers, we have developed a helicopter-borne ECPR team which is sent out to the patient. Methods: Retrospective monocentric study from jan 2014 to dec 2016. The ECPR team is made of an emergency physician with specific ECPR training, an anesthetist nurse, +/- a paramedic. The team is triggered by the local EMS and sent out by helicopter on the site of the CA. Results: Table 1 Conclusions: These results show the possibility to make ECPR accessible for patients far away from ECPR centers with reasonable delays. Survivors have acceptable neurological status, especially if compared...
