Expression and significance of MDM2 and p53 protein in lung adenocarcinoma.

Objectives To investigate the expression and significance of p53 and MDM2 in lung adenocarcinoma.Methods PCNA、MDM2 and P53 in 41 lung adenocarcinoma specimens were detected by immunohistochenistry.Results The incidence of MDM2 and p53 expression were 31.71%(13/41)and 53.66%(22/41).The expression level of p53 in the huge adenocarcinoma was higher than that of the small adenocarcinoma(33.43% +7.28% vs 6.61% +1.34%),showing significant difference(P0.05).The expression level of MDM2 in the huge adenocarcinoma was lower than that of the small adenocarcinoma(3.77%+1.13% vs 24.53%+4.13%),without significant difference(P0.05).There was a correlation between p53 and MDM2(r=-0.54,P0.05).Conclusion There was a positive correlation between the expression of MDM2 and p53 expression.A negative feedback mechanism exists between p53 and MDM2,it is the molecular basis of the development of lung cancer.
