Gyeolryeon Game Method in the Korean Martial Art of Taekkyeon

The purpose of the study is shed new light on Gyeolryeon Taekkyeon, thereby contributing to the restoration of the original form of the Taekkyeon game. This study investigated Gye-olryeon Taekkyeon through literature reviews by searching for preceding studies and interviews as qualitative research. The conclusions are as follows. First, the game method of Gyeolryeon Taekkyeon is a winning streak game in which a player plays until he/she loses. Second, players begin the game with a six-step distance between one another. Third, there are differences among organizations as to the rules of Gyeolryeon Taekkyeon; some organizations perceive it was a fight while others as a game. Fourth, Gyeolryeon Taekkyeon is a mixed martial art.
