ENQUÊTE SUR LA PRÉVENTION ET LA PRISE EN CHARGE DES ESCARRES AU CHU HÔPITAL DU MALI

AbstractPressure ulcers affect 0.5 to 9% of hospitalized patients in the world, they are chronic andexpensive diseases that alter the quality of life of the patient. The aim of this study was toreceive data on the epidemiological situation of pressure ulcers at the CHU Hospital of Maliand to analyze the knowledge, attitudes and practices of the agents regarding theirmanagement. Completed between September 01 and December 31, 2016; it involved 155people. The respondents consisted of patients, escorts, doctors and nurses at the level of thetechnical care services of the Mali Hospital. The prevalence of pressure ulcers was 1.95%,patients consisted of cases of trauma, stroke, and / or elderly and cachectic subjects. Healthworkers claimed 38% to participate in the prevention and management of pressure ulcers atthe service level. The families of the patients estimated that 40% were not involved in theprevention of pressure ulcers.The occurrence of pressure ulcers during hospitalization is considered an undesirable event,its management requires a holistic involvement of care teams and the use of honey and eggwhite can be a solution to improve the decision in charge of these conditions.
