Effect of thermochemical treatment on the wear resistance of structural steels

1986
1. With an increase in steel alloying there is an increase in the optimum carbon content in the surface film of diffusion layers, and as a consequence there is an increase in the content of excess phases which reduce wear. After TCT steel 16Kh2N3MFBAYu-Sh has much lower wear than steel 12KhN3A. 2. The method of thermochemical treatment, which provides preparation of the maximum amount of excess precipitated phases, leads to a sharp reduction in wear. After two-stage carbonitriding steel 20Kh3MVFA exhibits the highest wear resistance.
