An Application of Fuzzy Set Theory to Preference Analysis in Bus Route Choices
1993
One of the difficulties in applying fuzzy set theory to the real situation is how to determine membership functions. In this study, a questionnaire survey was conducted to assess bus riders' preferences between bus service frequency and walk distance to bus stops. Based on the survey results, a set of simple but practical membership functions were derived. Then the model was used to demonstrate that restructuring of bus route network results, in the improvement of the overall satisfaction level of bus riders.
