Architectures, modes and conflicts

2019
In the concluding chapter 10, Martin Heidenreich and Jenny Preunkert compare the patterns of horizontal Europeanisation in the previously analysed social fields and in the social space. This comparison discusses to what extent and in which ways cross-border patterns of interaction, interpretation and attitudes develop in the respective social field or space, which conflicts and bargaining processes take place between the organisations and individuals involved and how the seven Europeanisation processes analysed in chapters 3–9 shape social practices, living conditions and interpretations of social inequalities. This conclusion in particular highlights the conflicts between the winners and losers of Europeanisation and the reinforcement of centre-periphery structures in Europe.
