PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication method which enables efficient and tolerant (non) activation of a component carrier.SOLUTION: A terminal device receives a MAC control element including the assembly of bits indicating activation/non-activation states of at least one secondary component carrier to be added to a primary component carrier. At least one secondary component carrier corresponds to one bit included in the assembly of bits, and one bit indicates whether the corresponding secondary component carrier should be activated or should not be activated. If any secondary component carrier is activated, the terminal device starts transmission of a sounding reference signal (SRS) on the activated secondary component carrier.
