Thesystem wasdeveloped toaddress some difficulties encountered ina flamecutter thatcutsmetal sheets basedon an intelligent controller. Intheexisting system anoptical sensor isusedforthefeedback thattracks thedrawing-into 1:1scale. Thenewproposal istomodify the entire system using stored-programs withfeedback generated fromshaftsensors. Thus theproposedsystemuses AUTOCAD software fordrawingimplementation. The application software developed intheproject extracts the minimuminformation necessary forthecontroller fromthe AutoCADfile(DxF).Thisprocess creates a new file (informationfile) containing thepathinformation. A unique discretization process isproposed togenerate suitable data points tothecontroller usingtheinformation_file . The algorithm developed minimizes thedatapoints tobestored andtobesenttothecontroller asreference data.The controller, inessence, tracks thedrawing within thegiven accuracy, whilemaintaining thecorrect flamespeed.Itis shownthatasimple controller withcost-effective hardware canimplement thecontouring-controller foraflamecutter. Someexperimental andsimulated results arepresented. The information necessary fora beginner tostart-off witha contouring controller iselaborated.
