De kinderen van de holocaust

A series of the Flemish television of memories by "Children of the Holocaust" was concluded by comments of experts. Historian Herman Van Goethem underlines the example set by those who resisted the nazis, but cites two individuals only, minimizing their contribution. In contrast, the "Children" tell how they, or their parents, were saved by Belgian individuals, families and schools where they went into hiding. I cite the figure of the 42.000 Jews saved vs 28.000 deported, and the number of Belgian resistants and secret agents who were killed by the nazis. Belgian authorities who publicly protested or refused collaboration, were quickly eliminated by the German occupant. Herman Van Goethem has written an answer to this critique (see link to HUMO).
