36. Complications in Pediatric MIS
2012
Although most complications occur as a result of the operation itself and are independent of the decision to perform a procedure with a minimally invasive approach, some are specific to minimally invasive surgery (MIS). In addition, some complications are more apt to occur in children than in adults. This chapter highlights some of the common issues surrounding these procedures and describes a few complications which may be specific to MIS. The discussion is by no means complete but can act as a foundation for further recognition, assessment, and treatment of the complications associated with pediatric MIS.
