Research of the Flammability of Epoxy Composite Fire-Retardant by Nanometer Based on the Method of CONE

A novel phosphorus-containing flame retardant,bisphenol A-bis(5,5-dimethyl-1,3-dioxaphosphorinanyl- 2-oxy phosphate ester)(FR) was synthesized. The FR/APP/OMMT/EP composites was prepared by intercalation polymerization method,when the content of the nano-system(FR/APP/OMMT;13.3/6.7/3) was about 23%,compared with pure EP,heat release rate(HRR) and ToxPI6min of the flame retarded EP were decreased by a factor of 70.9%,20.83%,respectly,and the char was increased by a factor of 792.57%. Based on those results of CONE,compared with pure EP,heat release rate(HRR) ,mass release rate(MLR) ,total heat release(THR) and ToxPI6min of the flame retarded EP were decreased greatly.
