Application of video feedback method in the teaching of basic manipulation

2019
Objective To investigate the effecacy of video feedback in the teaching of basic skills. Methods Totally 36 clinical medicine undergraduates were divided into the experimental group(n=18) and the control group(n=18) randomly from February to July in 2018. In addition to the traditional teaching method based on lecture, students in the experimental group joined the video feedback teaching, while students in the control group adopted the traditional teaching method based on lecture. The performances in the simulation of the basic manipulation of practical skills tests of physician qualification examination were compared between the two groups, and the questionnaire investigation were also conducted and evaluated after the course. Results The basic practical skills test score of the experimental group was higher than that of the control group (16.25±1.14 vs 14.31±1.46, P<0.05). Questionnaire investigation showed that the students' learning interests, attention focusing, commutation and expression ability, sense of teamwork, self learning willingness, awareness of merits and demerits of themselves' operation, self-confidence before examination, nervousness control during the peri-examination period were better than those in experimental group(8.53±1.46 vs 7.38±1.21, 8.72±1.40 vs 7.51±1.33, 9.15±1.84 vs 7.67±1.65, 8.86±1.43 vs 6.55±1.27, 8.57±1.14 vs 6.39±1.36, 7.35±0.92 vs 4.47± 0.66, 6.82±0.75 vs 4.03±0.56, 7.40±1.63 vs 4.28±0.45, all P<0.05). Conclusions Video feedback method can effectively improve students' interest in self-learning, development of standardized performance, boost the self-confidence of students, and facilitate basic manipulation training.
