CHIRPED PULSE DISTORTION IN A VOLUME REFLECTION GRATING

1994
Abstract The problem of chirped light pulse scattering by a volume reflection grating under two-wave Bragg diffraction has been considered. The rigorous procedure of the time domain analysis originally applied to a transmission grating in Optics Comm. 94 (1992) 379, has been used to describe the distortion of a pulse with the spectrum close to the grating bandwidth. Both transmission and reflection temporal transfer functions of the grating have been analytically expressed as series in the Bessel functions. Using these expansions the calculation of temporal profiles of both output pulses has been made in the wide range of initial parameters of incident pulses and gratings. Variously shaped temporal distortions including the compression effect have been revealed and discussed.
