Escleroterapia com oleato de monoetanolamina na abordagem de lesões vasculares da cavidade oral

2019
Introduction: Monoethanolamine oleate (Ethamolin®) is a derivative of oleic acid with coagulative properties, which has been increasingly used for the treatment of sclerosis of oral lesions in the oral cavity. This chemical component performs local coagulation through the activation of the coagulation factor XII, resulting in thrombosis of the vascular endothelium followed by fibrosis of the vessel wall, reducing or eliminating the lesions without the need for an invasive surgical approach. Case report: The present study reports a clinical case in a male patient, forty - two years old, who sought dental care with complaints of non - stinging veins. In the oral examination, a single, nodular, asymptomatic lesion with sessile implantation and bluish-purple coloration was observed in the jugal mucosa, with a diagnostic hypothesis of varicosity. Discussion: The therapeutic approach was chemical sclerotherapy with Ethamolin with satisfactory results, with partial resolution of the lesion in only 20 days. Through a non-surgical method, partial resolution was achieved with an aesthetic recovery of the patient. The usefulness of the monoethanolamine oleate substance (Ethamolin®) in a positive way is highlighted in numerous applications in medical practice and its little known use in the dental environment.
