AE properties in superconducting rotor

1993
We had reported firstly at UI–91 conference that acoustic emissions (AE) could be measured from superconducting magnet even in rotating condition. From further experimental results, these AE signals were mainly divided into two groupes; the one was to say Type A, the other. Type B. Type A is an AE groupe whose signals increase while a force factor grows in the superconductig rotor. Type B is vici versa. A force factor is defined here as such as acceleration of rotation, cooling strain force, mechanical and electro-magnetic force in the superconducting rotor. We developed here simplified model from which we can lead these types of AE for theoretical studies. With both experimental results and theoretical considerations, we found that we can say which side of supporting member, forward or backward of acceleration vector, dcminantly support distributed mass in superconducting coils. We can therefore evaluate BINDING QUALITY between the coils and its supporting construction of the superconducting rotor by analizing these types of AE.
